Forgetting About Your Food Sensitivities

Have you ever not have a reaction in so long that you kind of forgotten that you have food allergies, intolerances, or sensitivities?

I’ve had my sensitivities for about 3 years now, so I know what I can and can’t have. I know what foods bother me and what foods don’t after testing and figuring it all out for 3 years. The foods that give me problems, I stay away from as well as the foods that cause questioning because I’m unsure whether it’s safe or not. I eat the same foods over and over, so I know for sure that the food is safe and I don’t really try new foods unless it’s something I really want to try and know I’ll be fine.

Because I eat the same foods that I know are safe, keep away from the foods that aren’t, and don’t really try the new ones, I haven’t had a reaction in months. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I had a massive stomach ache. Because of the fact that I no longer get stomach aches and haven’t had a problem eating foods, I pretty much forgotten that I have sensitivities. I know what my sensitivities are, I still have to read the labels and stay away from certain foods. I still have to ask at restaurants keeping in mind that I do have sensitivities, but it’s not really as much as a concern as it used to be. I don’t really think about it and worry about it as much as I used to. It hasn’t bothered me at all recently to the fact that I question whether I still have the sensitivities or not. How would I know if I’m avoiding the foods that bothered me and aren’t having reactions?

I guess that’s the good thing about having food sensitivities; once you know what your sensitivities are and avoid the foods that bother you, you don’t really have to worry about it as much. You get to the point where you pretty much forget that you even have sensitivities. You change your diet and eat different foods that are actually better and healthier for you, or at least in my case, I’m now eating a lot healthier than I have been mainly because of my sensitivities. I figured out which foods are okay for me to eat and stick with those foods where I’m able to eat problem-free and enjoy life. The only time my sensitivities would be a concern is if I ever go out to eat at a restaurant and need to question the food and figure out what’s safe for me to eat, if anything. But, I hardly ever go out to a restaurant, so I don’t worry about it that much.

With food sensitivities, yes, it can be hard at times, but you learn how to live with it. When you figure everything out and discover the foods you’re able to enjoy, it’s a lot easier to live with your sensitivities as it doesn’t really bother you and you’re able to live a lot more stress-free than you have been. It’s not really that much of a problem or an issue once you have everything under control. You can live your life without worrying that much about food. Just eat what you’re able to enjoy and live a happy life.
