Craving Foods You Can’t Eat

You know when you have a craving and you finally eat that food you’ve been drooling over? It’s like the best feeling ever and it makes you so happy. Everything is different when you can’t enjoy what you’ve been wanting because of your food allergies, intolerances, sensitivities, or even diet/healthy eating lifestyle. Imagine what it’s like to not be able to indulge in the food you’ve been dreaming of and wanting so bad.

Chocolate, cookies, brownies, french fries, Cheesecake Factory cheesecake, and all those other sweets we all have cravings for, most of which are foods I can’t eat. That’s the hard part; not being able to satisfy my craving because of my sensitivity. I just want a handful of M&M’s; a candy that was once my favorite that I grew up eating all the time.

With a sensitivity, I don’t have such a bad reaction, just a little stomachache, so I start to want to cave-in and enjoy a couple M&M’s. Is it worth it knowing the consequences? Would it be that harmful if I just have a little bit? Do I risk it and find out or try my hardest to fight through the craving and enjoy something else quite similar? Especially with the new candies coming out like the M&M bars and new M&M flavors, it’s something I really want to try and makes me want to forget about everything and just enjoy it in the moment, but be prepared for what happens next.

Every once in a while, I get a craving for a food that I haven’t had in years because I’m no longer able to eat it, so I question, why? How can I crave a food that I haven’t had in many years that I tried to forget about because my sensitivity allows me to not be able to enjoy? I’ve accepted the fact that I can no longer eat those foods, but then it comes back to haunt me years later when I have those cravings and really want some again. That’s when it all starts to bug me because I want to satisfy my cravings, but I can’t, but I wish I was able to.

Cravings is something that is hard for all of us, especially if we don’t have access to those foods. It’s something we can all agree on since we all experience them. We all know what it’s like to have a craving, to be able to satisfy that carving, and to have to fight through a carving. I think it’s crazy how it all works and how bad it can affect us if we don’t get what we want.
